The Most Chuckle-Worthy Baseball Fans Caught On Camera
America's pastime is more than just hearing the crack of the bat and seeing your favorite players hit 'em out of the park. There's hot dogs, beer, and of course, what really makes the game is the fans. At any baseball game, there is always that one person in the stands who does something that makes the whole stadium laugh, cheer, or sometimes even boo. From awesome foul ball catches to streakers stealing bases, here are some of the craziest baseball fans caught on camera.
Moms Are The Ultimate Multitaskers
Moms are undeniable superheroes, just like this mom who caught a foul ball in one hand while she carried her eight-month-old son in the other. Tiffany Goodwin of Fredericksburg, Virginia wowed everyone with this move at a Richmond Flying Squirrels game.
She outstretched her arm for the catch even though her husband was poised to catch it himself. "He said, 'I called you off, I called you off. I could have had it.' But it was already in my glove, and I told him possession is nine-tenths of the law!" she told Richmond Times-Dispatch.
Fans Who Never Hold Back
Why spend $30 on a t-shirt jersey when you can make one yourself at home? That's precisely what this fan decided to do and he didn't even need to buy any extra materials for it!
Whenever Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer finds himself in a hairy situation, there's at least one guy out there who has his back. Mauer was probably flattered by this fan's dedication but he probably wouldn't have wanted to sign this man's "jersey" if he was asked.
Some Fans Can't Really Mask Their Feelings
Some Red Sox fans really know how to hit 'em where it hurts. Back in 2007 when the New York Yankees came to Fenway Park, some fans came supplied with yellow-haired masks to taunt Alex Rodriguez, who weeks before was caught with a blonde stripper that wasn't his wife.
Boston fans may have made a punchline out of A-Rod but it couldn't have gotten to him that much since New York walked away with a 9-5 victory.
The Mets Didn't Have It In The Bag
The New York Mets had their worst start at home in franchise history in the 2011 season. They were so deplorable that Mets fans knew it would take a lot for the team to dig their way out of the hole they were in.
Instead of keeping the faith, fans at Citi Field decided to commiserate the state of their team by wearing paper bags on their heads, complete with sad faces.
Some Fans Get A Little Too Wild
Sometimes there are some fans out there who get wild, like this horse and this giraffe chatting it up in their front row seats at a Cincinnati Reds game. This must be a regular thing at the Great American Ball Park because even the players are completely nonplussed by these interesting spectators.
By the look on their faces, they're probably excited to see bases loaded with no outs, which could possibly give the Reds a three-run lead.
But First, Let Me Take A Selfie
Baseball is hard to pay attention to sometimes, so this group of sorority girls at an Arizona Diamondbacks game resorted to taking selfies. It's a wonder why anyone would pay money to go to the game only to be on their phone the whole time but at least these ladies still had fun!
After this went viral, the Diamondbacks offered this sorority chapter free tickets to future games but instead, the girls asked that the tickets be donated to families at an organization that supports victims of domestic violence.
This Is A Man With Priorities
This Angels fan still found time to make it out to the game, even if his wife is due to give birth at any moment! He may be excited to become a father but the possibility of seeing Mike Trout hit a homer is what really gets his blood rushing.
To his credit, he is somewhat concerned about the oncoming arrival of his newborn so it's safe to say this his future Angels fan is more than just an afterthought.
There's Often A Lot At Stake
This Royals fan really needed her team to win because she had a puppy on the line. The 2014 Postseason was an exciting one for Kansas City, who secured a wild card berth and made it all the way to the World Series where they went head-to-head against the San Francisco Giants.
We can't say for sure that this woman got her puppy because the Royals didn't become the champions that year.
Some Fans Are A Handful
17-year-old Candice Sortino caused a stir when she dashed onto the field during the College World Series and proceeded to grab not one, but two, of the players' backsides during the 7th inning.
She gave security quite a chase but was eventually caught and banned from T.D. Ameritrade Park for a year. "It was a bad decision, it was fun but I shouldn't have done it, I know it was wrong," she eventually told 6 News.
A Curse That Lasts A Lifetime
The Chicago Cubs have been cursed for more than a hundred years which is why this fan from a 2008 game against the Tampa Bay Rays was excited to see his team finally do something exciting. In fact, the Cubs snagged the National League Central title that year and everyone was hopeful the Cubbies were about to break the curse.
Unfortunately, that simply wasn't the case and the curse wouldn't be broken for another eight years.
Maybe He Did It For America
This fan looks like he accomplished exactly what he came to do at Globe Life Park in Arlington, Texas. Just observe the look on his face as he rushes past Rangers center fielder Leonys Martin, who looks completely unaware of this prankster.
Baseball is America's pastime so it's only right that he wears American flag shorts while attempting this risky stunt. But the run for freedom probably wasn't worth the hefty fees he was hit with.
A Streaker Stealing Second
This fan loves baseball so much that he literally tried to steal second base at a Tampa Bay Rays game. To make things even more interesting, he stripped down to his skivvies before making a mad dash for second.
He was still caught by security at that point but to his credit, he managed to keep his hand on the base the whole time. It's too bad he was ultimately called out.
Starting Them Young
A young A's fan wasn't pleased to be sitting next to a Yankees fan at this particular ballgame. The look on her face only adds to the sting of the brilliant sign she has directed at her seat neighbor. She doesn't look too excited to have to hear his gabbing for nine innings straight.
Her dad looks so proud to have raised his daughter right in the eyes of A's fans across the country.
She Didn't Know What She Was In For
This fan got to the game and immediately realized she was bored. Not wanting to disappoint those that she came with, she took to the trusty ol' Google to seek out the answers that she needed.
Hopefully, she wasn't too disappointed to learn that a baseball game last at least three hours, if not more. We can only imagine how she must have felt if that game went into extra innings.
No, I'm Not Too Busy To Talk
This guy has mastered the art of mentally being in two places at once. He can hold a phone conversation and catch a foul ball all while keeping a straight face. He doesn't look too excited about either of those situations, so it's probably safe to say that this is just an average Sunday for him.
We can only imagine what kind of phone call is so important that he couldn't get off the phone for this awesome moment.
Telling It Like It Is
This is a fan who is just happy to be here, seeing that he enjoys the game of baseball. This guy had nothing bad or anything good to say about either of the teams that were playing at this game, so it's likely that he is neither a Braves nor a Padres fan.
It also appears that he was in good company since his seat neighbor had a sign that reads "I do too."
Something To Pass The Time
By the time the Baltimore Orioles had a three-run lead in the bottom of the seventh, these Cleveland fans must have given up hope that anything exciting would happen for their Indians.
That's why they decided to build a formidable wall of Miller Lite beer cans to pass the time. Apparently, no one else in the crowd seems bothered by this obvious obstruction but that didn't mean security didn't have anything to say about it.
It's A Homer... Simpson, That Is
There's a bit of wishful thinking on the part of this fan, who dressed up as Homer Simpson with the hope that one of his Angels players would hit a home run. This play on words had just enough baseball magic to help the Angels defeat the Red Sox in the 2009 Postseason.
Unfortunately, it wasn't enough to advance past the ALCS that year, which would have made them American League champions.
What's The Deal With Baseball?
If Jerry Seinfeld's giant face is any indication, there must be something pretty wild going on at this New York Mets game versus the Yankees. If Jerry Seinfeld were really at this baseball game, that'd probably be the ac tual expression on his face when he saw this sign.
The Imgur user who shared this photo with the caption, "What's the deal with baseball?" It couldn't get any more Seinfeld than that question right there.
Someone Come Get Their Man
One baseball fan had a little too much to drink and ended up falling out of his seat and right onto the field! The player who found him looks equal parts confused and concerned. He's probably waiting for someone to come get their man so that he can carry on with the game.
Drinking at a ballgame is all part of the fun but honestly, you never want to be that guy.
It's Nacho Problem If The Ball Lands There
There's not much you can do when a player goes for a foul ball that lands in the stands. You can only hope that either of your don't get hurt. No one got hurt in this situation but one unfortunate Cardinals fan lost his nachos when Cubs player Addison Russell tried to catch a ball in left field.
He must have felt bad because a few innings later, Russell emerged from the dugout to give the fan some fresh nachos.
You Snooze You Lose
We get it. Baseball is "boring." But that doesn't mean you need to rub it in our faces! Jokes aside, this fan was probably tired after a long day and you have to give him credit for still making out to a game.
That didn't stop ESPN announcers from mocking him on national television when cameras showed him taking a snooze. This fan actually tried to sue ESPN for the unwanted attention but the lawsuit was ultimately thrown out.
When You Don't Know Where You Are
There are many things to dissect about this picture. At first, you see that this girl is wearing a Texas Rangers hat but things go wrong once you notice that she's wearing a Tampa Bay Rays jersey.
And what's this? She's at the 2104 FIFA World Cup in Brazil? There's no guessing how she even got herself into this situation. She must have been invited to go and put on whatever sports gear she had lying around.
No One Wants To Fetch This
No one wants to be on the wrong end of a bat flip. Everyone in this crowd was, including one expressive doggo who doesn't want to fetch the stick that's flying right at him.
We wonder if this dog knew what was happening or if he was just mimicking all the humans around him. We just hope no one was hurt in the making of this hilarious baseball fan moment!
Was Paying Attention To The Game When This Caught My Eye
When you're at the game, sometimes the best view is right before your eyes. One fan caught this glimpse of the person sitting right in front of them. It must have been pretty hard to focus on the game after noticing this hilarious tattoo on the crown of this guy's head!
Many men can't accept the fact that they're balding—except for this guy. In fact, he decided to have a little fun with it.
We Hope He Doesn't Wake Up
While sometimes you just can't help it if you're that tired, you don't want to be that guy that nods off at a baseball game. Announcers might poke fun at you on national TV or the fans sitting near you just might make a game out of it.
When one fan fell asleep at a Yankees game, the fan behind him starting stacking cups on his head. It was actually pretty impressive.
A Sign Of The Times
You never want to ask a woman what her age is and you certainly don't want to out her on national television! This young fan decided to let the world know it was his mom's birthday but instead of just saying that, he wrote how old she was turning instead.
Good thing she had her retaliation set up! We'd say his punishment was probably not getting to go to any more baseball games for a while.
Kiss Or Diss?
The Kiss Cam at the baseball game isn't always one you want to be caught on—especially if you're alone! That's what happened to this unfortunate Phillies fan at Nationals Park. The look on his face says it all.
Hopefully he wasn't too mortified by the fact that the camera guys did this too him. As is the case at any baseball game, it was most likely all in good fun.
Someone Probably Needs Some Rum
This Pirates fan got a little too excited for the game. When the Giants came to town, we're sure he didn't expect them to score five runs within six innings.
This is one of those hometown fans that probably goes all out for his team, which is why he is dressed up in full pirate gear. It's never a happy day to see your team lose at home to a team like the San Francisco Giants.
Things Can Get A Little Weird At The Game
Imagine being in the 12th inning, people getting restless, and then this happens. Though we can't say for sure that was exactly the case in this photo, it's obvious that things got a little weird at the game that day.
When a horse and a unicorn face off, you know something is about to go down. They for sure weren't paying attention to the game anymore and had to make everyone else suffer through their dugout dance.
The Lone Ranger
Here is a diehard Florida Marlins fan who refuses to let his season tickets go to waste. Rain or shine, he’ll be somewhere in that stadium, even if it means that he’s the only person there.
It probably sure beats watching the game at home with his kids running around and wife nagging him about something. As long as the beer and hotdog concession stand is open, we’re sure that he’ll be just fine. This is his version of meditation.
Nothing Like A Good Ol’ Riot
This is the result after the Mets won the World Series back in 1969. After they won, chaos ensued and there was nothing that anyone could do to stop these wild fans, completely overtaken by their joy of success.
Although it may look like a warzone more than anything else, we’re sure that the fans there were having the time of their life. Just make you you watch your head for flying bricks and shattered glass!
The Face of Defeat
This is an image of two heartbroken Chicago Cubs fan sulking in their sadness after the Cubs lost 5-1 against the Arizona Diamondbacks during Game Three of the National League Divisional Series.
To rub salt in the wound, they lost at their own stadium, making the pain all that much worse. Chances are, these two cubs fans don’t even know each other, but their experiencing the same feeling of bitter defeat. Let’s hope they grabbed a beer together.
Not Today, Punk
By the looks of it a fan from another side rushed the field and tried to make it to the Astros fans part of the field. Well, it appears that the Astros fans weren’t having any of it, and had no problem pushing this crazed fan back onto the field using his face.
Somehow, during the process, the man lost his shoe, but that will be the least of his worries once that security guard comes tackling him into the wall. Luckily for him, those walls are slightly padded. Maybe lay off the beers next time.
Rain Or Shine Baby!
It’s clear that this man really wanted to be in this moment for this baseball game. He had his tickets, saw that there was going to be a torrential downpour, and still made the decision.
We hope that his friend went to go get some food or beers or else this would truly be a sad sight. But hey, sports wouldn’t be the same without diehard fans like this who are willing to risk illness in order to support their team.
How Many Boys Does It Take To Catch A Ball?
These three boys are experiencing a moment of a lifetime. They probably have dreamt about the day when a fly or home run ball would come their way, and now it’s actually happening.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like any of them have been preparing for the moment since the ball looks like it’s going to go right through all three of them. The boy with the hat wasn’t even close, and the second boy already has his hands closed. Will the boy in the middle make the catch? Stay tuned.
Swing And A Miss!
Here, we have the exact same situation except with fully grown men. What’s even more sad is that they’re even further off than the little boys were. While the mean are willing to risk life and limb to catch a ball like this, the women are trying to avoid it at all costs.
More than likely, one of these guys landed right on top of one of the poor ladies just there to watch some baseball. That Yankees fan better watch his back with all those Royals around!
Some Good Old Fashion Family Fun
At just about every major sporting event, there’s always one person that has to take things too far and ruin the fun for everyone. We’re not sure exactly what happened here, but we’re going to assume that this guy tried to rush the field and ultimately ended up with his hands behind his back.
There are only a few rules that baseball fans have to follow at the stadium, and he broke one of the few! That’s just sad, man.
Did You Remember The Broom?
What would a New York Yankees game be without your trusty, dusty broom? We wish we knew the backstory behind this, but we’re going to guess that this broom is these guys’ good luck totem and they don’t watch a single Yankees game without having it in arms reach.
If that’s the case, that broom has probably seen a lot. Most likely, things we don’t want to even imagine. We wish we could get this jazzed about something like they are with their broom.
What In Tarnation?
We’re at a loss for words on this one. Considering that you’re not allowed to bring anything into any kind of stadium that’s sharp, we find it hard to believe that this man managed to bring an enormous pair of moose antlers with him.
We know we wouldn’t exactly feel comfortable with this guy tripping through the rows of people swinging those things around. That’s a lawsuit waiting to happen. At least we hope he got on the big screen for these bad boys.
