Michigan State Tops AP Preseason Men’s Basketball Poll For First Time
It's an exciting time to be a Michigan State fan! The team tops the Associated Press' preseason men's basketball poll for the first time in program history. The Spartans received 60 of 65 first-place votes in the preseason poll.
Second-place Kentucky and third-place Kansas were the only other teams who received any first-place votes.
Michigan State has been ranked first for 12 weeks in the AP Top 25 men's college basketball poll. In previous years, the team has been ranked second four times in the preseason poll.
"It's almost bizarre to me because I would've thought Magic's team was No. 1," Tom Izzo, Michigan State coach, told AP.
The Spartans won 32 games last season and reached the Final Four for the eighth time under Izzo. Clearly the Hall of Fame coach is doing something right with his players!
