Bears “Seriously Considering” Moving Away From Soldier Field

The mayor of Arlington Heights had some surprising news for Chicago Bears' fans recently when he announced the team was "seriously considering" moving to the quaint area. Located 30 miles outside of Chicago, the team is looking at 326 acres of area where the Arlington Park race track currently sits.

Mayor Hayes, speaking with Fox 32 in Chicago, said, "Certainly, the Arlington Park site is available and we would consider the Chicago Bears a great fit for that particular site. I think the Bears are seriously considering it because it's such a unique piece of property. It has so much going for it in terms of its location in the northwest suburbs where a lot of their audience is."

The Bears have played at Soldier Field since 1971, and in that time it has gone through many facelifts. Seen more as bandages than permanent fixes, the current state of the stadium has led to the team explore new venues.

Getting out of their current lease wouldn't be easy though. That lease runs through 2033, giving the Bears' higher-ups plenty of time to truly determine the next best plan of action.
