Bold Predictions For Super Bowl LIV That Might Come True

Football | 1/21/20

Tyreke Hill will open up Super Bowl LIV with a 50-yard touchdown. That's a bold prediction, but one that isn't too unrealistic. While the Super Bowl features the two teams who've played their best when it matters the most, the final game can go either way as players play their hearts out for the trophy. You never know what could happen during the Super Bowl, and that's one of the best things about it. Continue reading to see the most ambitious predictions for the gridiron showdown.

Patrick Mahomes Breaks The Rushing Yards Record For A Quarterback

Patrick Mahomes is mobile and he has an arm. That's a deadly combination for any foe, even the stacked 49er's defense. When Mahomes gets rolling with his feet, it makes the game incredibly hard for the opponent, so the Chiefs might look to utilize that early.

Steve McNair recorded the most rushing yards in a Super Bowl for a quarterback when he rushed for 64 yards in Super Bowl XXXIV. Mahomes can easily surpass that number if they rely on him early to jet past defenders.

A Defensive Player Will Win MVP

Throughout the history of the Super Bowl, there have only been nine defensive players to win the lustrous MVP award after the game. The last person to do it was Von Miller after his dominant performance against Cam Newton and the Panthers in Super Bowl 50.

For LIV, an offensive player might miss out on the privilege. Chances are it will be someone from the 49ers, as they're already loaded on that side of the ball.

Travis Kelce Scores The Most Offensive Touchdowns

Tight end Travis Kelce didn't score against the Tennessee Titans in the big game before the Super Bowl, but don't count him out yet. The powerful receiving tight end saw pay dirt three times in his playoff matchup against Houston.

Matching up against the 49ers, Mahomes will have to use all his weapons if he wants to bring a championship to Kansas City. Once the Chiefs enter the red zone, Kelce can flourish after a few run plays and a play action pass. We're giving him four scores in LIV.

Richard Sherman Let's Hill Catch Multiple Touchdowns

Yes, Richard Sherman is an elite defender and has the statistics to prove it. While he's one of the better corners in the league, Tyreke Hill is another animal on the field.

Not only is Hill faster than Sherman, but the 49er doesn't have the same coverage skills he once had before the Achilles injury. Still, it should be an exciting matchup over the course of the game, but expect Hill to get loose a few times.

Hill Goes Off For Over 100 Yards

Hill, being one of the most explosive and fastest players the NFL has ever had will more than likely go for over 100 yards, right? Well, in the 2019-20 season, he only did it twice, playoffs included.

The year before he had six, which isn't too bad. With the 49ers having the best pass defense in the game, that makes this prediction even bolder. Sherman is a shutdown corner in almost every other case, but against a speed like Hill's, it's going to be a long night for the secondary and Sherman.

With five of the last eight victories from the Kansas City Chiefs being blowouts, it's relatively safe to believe they can do that again. Chiefs fans would love to think that way, but that won't be the case this time around.

The Chiefs like to play from behind and then go on a tear, but they can't afford to do that in the big game, especially against this 49er defense. Expect this one to come down to the wire.

Jimmy Garoppolo threw for over 300 yards three times in the 2019-20 season. Thanks to the 49ers being a complete team, they didn't have to rely on him too heavily to keep them in games.

Super Bowl LIV might be different. If the Chiefs get off to a great start, expect Garoppolo to use his arm and feed his receivers and backfield. They do have a solid run game, but running won't work if the game gets too out of reach.

Raheem Mostert Won't Be The Leading Rusher

Raheem Mostert did a number on the Green Bay Packers defense. The 49er's game plan was simply to wind him up and let him run free as he ran himself into the record books.

The thing is, the Niners haven't had a consistent number one producer out the backfield all season. With Tevin Coleman recovering from a shoulder injury, that opens up the door for Mostert sure, but let's not forget about the Chiefs. To keep the Niner's defense honest, they'll have to pound the ball inside, leaving Damien Williams open for some big possibilities.

Tight end George Kittle is as unselfish as they come. 49er coach Kyle Shanahan revealed that Kittle doesn't ask for the ball at all and that he's one of the best team players there is.

Super Bowl LIV will be big for him. He may have only received one target in the game against Green Bay, but don't act surprised when Garoppolo throws the ball his way throughout the night. It can shape up to be a nice evening for the big guy.

Who could forget the darkness of Super Bowl XLVII? After Beyonce gave a compelling performance, as she usually does, the game would pick back up. The play after the kick-off, all the lights in the Superdome went out!

Viewers at home thought Queen Bey's show caused the power to go out. With Shakira and Jennifer Lopez set to headline, we could possibly see the same thing happen again. Not to mention that the 49ers played last time this fiasco took place.

Hill Will Get Shut Down

It could go either way for Tyreke Hill in Super Bowl LIV, which is why saying he gets shutdown is bold. It's hard to take the fastest man on the field out of the game, but the Niners can find a way.

With Richard Sherman salivating at the prospect of defending Hill on the biggest stage, you can expect some extra zest in his game come kick-off. We're sure the defense is going to pay close attention to Hill as it is.

Garoppolo Throws Zero Touchdowns In A Win

If any team has enough options to win a game by not throwing any touchdowns, it's the 49ers. With an impeccable defense and run game, Garoppolo potentially will only have to manage the clock.

Let the 49ers' run game have some fun and the Chiefs are in trouble. A pick-six is in the stars with the right pressure on Mahomes, so there are many ways that the 49ers can put points on the board without relying on Garoppolo to throw it in the endzone.

Sammy Watkins Erupts

The 49ers are more than likely going to focus their defensive strategy on containing Mahomes and Hill, leaving Sammy Watkins more room than usual. Granted, he's still a threat after getting targeting ten times and going for 114 yards in their AFC Championship game, but he's not the main focus.

If the Niners fail to have a proper strategy for the wide receiver, they're going to have their hands full all across the board and Watkins will love it.

The Niners Will Render Mahomes Useless

Maybe the bright lights will get to him. Perhaps spending all that time in Miami will make him tired, or what if the Niners figure out a solid gameplan for the seemingly unstoppable quarterback?

The latter doesn't seem that likely, but it can happen. Mahomes hasn't thrown an interception in two games and he's thrown for at least 250 yards in five of his last six games. If anyone can figure the guy out, it's the 49ers.

Emmanuel Sanders Wins MVP

Laugh now, but you'll remember reading this when it comes to fruition. Emmanuel Sanders is a veteran player now and he's been to a Super Bowl or two, so he knows what to expect.

This could be the perfect opportunity for the former Bronco to turn back the hands of time and put on a remarkable performance. He was as Pro-Bowl player in 2014 and 2016 playing in Denver, so he has it in him to turn it up for a big game if his number gets called.

Raheem Mostert Scores All Of The 49er's Touchdowns

As unlikely as it sounds, it can happen. Raheem Mostert can very well be the lead and only back for the Niners of Coleman isn't able to suit up at 100%.

Mostert scoring all the touchdowns can take place as long as Garoppolo plays like he's been, and march the team to the red zone. His running has been incredible up until this point, so if Mostert can stay aggressive and power through those holes, expect him to score a lot of fo touchdowns.

Sherman Gets Pick-Six And Forces Fumble

Sherman is a student of the game, so he's probably in the film room studying Mahomes as you read this. He won't get any sleep until he's memorized all of the nuances the opposing team has in their playcalling.

Mahomes will more than likely throw a few forced passes thanks to all the pressure, thinking Hill is open, but that's when Sherman will do a great job at bating and get the pick. If Mahomes wants to run Sherman's way, he can expect a veteran hit, so he'd better hold on tight to that ball.

Bosa Doesn't Impact The Game

Bosa will get to test his greatness on the biggest stage in Super Bowl LIV. The 2019-20 season is one he'll probably never forget, as he accomplished some impressive things on the field.

In his first game alone he had three quarterback hits, one tackle for a loss, and a single sack. He's been a huge addition to the 49er defense, but the Chiefs will look to find a way to neutralize him as much as possible.

The Chiefs Offensive Line Will Show Up

The Chiefs don't have the greatest of offensive lines and it's shown in the 2019-20 season. Mahomes is great, but he can only do so much without proper help against a stellar defense.

That's why the line will finally show up and give Mahomes the ability to rest in the pocket for longer than expected. Giving him that luxury will more than likely be the deciding factor in the game, as he's able to run when he wants and throw will less pressure on him.

The Game Will Come Down To A Last Second Field Goal

As much as this is a bold prediction, it's also something the fans want to see. A game that isn't decided until the absolute last second is all anyone could ask for, but something we more than likely won't see.

It can still happen if the teams play conservative ball and focus on milking the clock to keep the ball out of the hands of the opposing team's biggest threats. If it does come down to the final moment, expect the 49ers to have the ball in their hands.
