Jerry Rice Says The NFL’s Greatest Player Is Jim Brown
Former pro football player Jerry Rice is regarded by many as the greatest wide receiver in NFL history thanks to his numerous records and accomplishments. Rice has an opinion of his own about who is the NFL's greatest player.
Rice has co-authored a book to celebrate the league's 100th season titled "America's Game: The NFL at 100". Rice says former Cleveland Brown's running back Jim Brown is his number one choice "without a doubt."
"It's everything he brought to the game. He didn't play as long (as other running backs), but he had the speed and physicality, and it's just the way he played the game," said Rice.
During his career, Brown earned eight all-pro selections in nine career seasons.
Rice was present this past Sunday to watch Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerland, who passed tight end Tony Gonzalez to be second on the career receptions list. Fitzgerald still has 223 receptions to go before he could beat Rice's record of 1,549 career receptions.
"I think he'd probably need a couple more years, but if anyone could do it, it'd be Larry Fitzgerald because of the way he takes care of his body and his work ethic," said Rice. "We have to wait and see how it plays out, but if he were to break my record, I would be the first one to congratulate him."
