It Started In 2009
"The Curse of Aaron Ramsey," which is also known as the Aaron Ramsey Effect, began in 2009 with a goal against Portsmouth. No one knows what voodoo was placed on the up and coming football star to create the curse, but nearly a decade later it's still going strong.
Of course, when the Aaron Ramsey Effect first struck, no one noticed. As you'll soon find out, the first person claimed wasn't an actor or musician. He was an American politician, and now he's the starting off point for our story.
Ted Kennedy Lost His Battle With Cancer
Three days after scoring a goal against Portsmouth, the Curse of Aaron Ramsey began. On August 25, 2009, American Senator Ted Kennedy lost his 15-month fight against cancer. Barack Obama, the American President at the time, lamented the "passing of an extraordinary leader."
Three weeks after heading into the great unknown, Kennedy's memoir, True Compass was published. It was an instant hit, taking the top spot on the New York Times Best Seller list. In a matter of months, it was reported to have sold half a million copies.
Keith Flint's Fire Burned Out
The music world was devastated in 2019 when The Prodigy founder and frontman Keith Flint passed away. His death was ruled a suicide, and The Prodigy respectfully cancelled all of their upcoming shows.
The shocking loss of Keith Flint came 48 hours after Ramsey scored a goal for Arsenal against the Tottenham Hotspurs. As soon as he scored, the internet world went crazy wondering who was going to get taken. No one could have predicted, however, that there would be more than one life lost.
Luke Perry's Sudden Health Decline
One day before Aaron Ramsey kicked his fateful goal against Tottenham, Luke Perry was hospitalised. The 90210 and Riverdale star suffered what was described as a massive stroke at his home and stayed in the hospital for further evaluation.

One of the most famous names in science, Hawking was 76-years-old when he peacefully passed away surrounded by family. Later that year, his belongings were auctioned off for two charities; the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Stephen Hawking Foundation.
Bruce Forsyth Worked Until The End
Bruce Forsyth passed away on August 18, 2017 from bronchial pneumonia at 89-years-old. In the two years leading up to his death, Forsyth was forced to cancel any public appearances, including hosting Strictly Come Dancing, as his health rapidly declined.
A few months after dying, BBC One aired a tribute to Forsyth, Sir Bruce: A Celebration, hosted by Tess Daily. During the show, several British celebrities were able to honor the television host and comedian who began his career in 1958 on Sunday Night at the London Palladium.
A Two-Year Wait
After Ted Kennedy passed away in 2009, the Aaron Ramsey curse wouldn't strike again for two years. Arsenal was facing English Premier League powerhouse Manchester United in May, 2011, when Ramsey scored the only goal of the game.
The loss was seen as a blow to Manchester United's chances at winning that year's Premier League. The bigger blow, however, would come 24 hours later, when the Aaron Ramsey effect zeroed in on its next target, and goodness was it a doozy!

Ray Williams' Unlucky Penalty
Sometimes, people are just unlucky. We're going to use former NBA star Ray Williams as Exhibit A. He passed away one day after Aaron Ramsey scored a goal in a game he wasn't even supposed to play!
