Bianca Andreescu Defeats Serena Williams to Win US Open
At only 19 years old, Bianca Andreescu won her first grand slam title over the weekend.
Andreescu beat Serena Williams 6-3, 7-5, making her the first teen to win a major since Maria Sharapova 13 years ago. It also leaves Williams one win short of tieing the women's record for most grand slam titles.
Andreescu is the first Canadian to win a singles grand slam title. After the win, she has climbed 10 spots in the women's tennis rankings to be No. 5 in the world.
The tennis champ broke down in tears during her press conference and said she's "been dreaming of this moment for the longest time."
After losing her last four grand slam finals, Williams has said she needs to step up as a player in future matches.
"I honestly don't think Serena showed up," Williams said. "I have to kind of figure out how to get her to show up in grand slam finals ... I think this was the worst match I've played all tournament. It's hard to know that you could do better. I don't even know what to say."
